THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Sept. 14, 1776  Page 2 includes: "Advices form Virginia declare the Congress were so irritated with the proceedings of Lord Dumore that they had advertised him as a public indendiary & offered a reward of 500 pounds for taking him dead or alive. It is said that the Virginians have new modeled their government since the declaration of independency...the whole province was quite up in arms; that the militia were drawn out twice a week & exercised...that General Lee was at the head of the military...It is said that motion was made in the Continental Congress to declare against all treaties & negociations with Great Britain & to make it treason to the liberties of America in any who should propose, abet, or encourage such treaty...".
Another page has a lengthy article on the: "Character of Colonel Barre" which talks much on the Boston Port Bill. Another page has a letter from Virginia which includes: "...The Provincials at last made an attempt to attack him [Lord Dunmore]; the consequence of which was several flags of truce were sent to them...his Lordship was obliged to retreat precipitately to George's Island off Potowmack river leaving his artillery, stores, etc. together with the Negroes behind him, which fell into the hands of the Provincials...".
The back page has a letter from Charleston, South Carolina which takes a full column reporting on this historic battle, & includes: "We left Cambridge on the 27th of May...it was the 9th of June before [we] passed the bar of Charlestown...By our delays we gave the people every opportunity to extend their lines & they were not idle. The fort on this island is exceedingly strong...The signal for attacking was made by Sir Peter on the 27th of June...The troops have been encamped on Long Island since the 15th & it was intended that Gen. Clinton should pass the Neck that divides Long Island from Sullivan's Island & attack by land while Sir Peter attacked by sea..." with much more, with some good reporting on the attack upon Charleston which would be repulsed by General Charles Lee (see photos). Complete in 8 pages, very nice, clean condition.
