THE DETROIT NEWS, Michigan, Sept. 28, 1930 The sports page has not only a nice banner headline on the remarkable golf achievement of Bobby Jones with: "Bobby Jones Swamps Gene Homans 8-7 To Gain Fourth Major Title" but it also includes a nice photo of him, above which is a heading: "Bobby Jones--The First in History To Do It" with four crowns noting his achievements: British Open, British Amateur, U.S. Open, and U.S. Amateur. The one column article is headed: "Bobby Scores A Grand Slam" with subhead: "Pockets Fourth Major Title of 1930 as He Wins His 5th Amateur Crown" (see).
