THE LIBERATOR, Boston, Massachusetts, January 6, 1860
*Ornate masthead
*Anti-Slavery Title
*edited by William Lloyd Garrison
See the photo below for the terrific masthead of this famous anti-slavery newspaper. The ornate engraving in the masthead features three scenes: a slave auction, an image of Jesus breaking the bonds of the oppressors, and a family about to depart for their journey to emancipation. Much of the content concerns slavery and the anti-slavery movement. Edited by the famed emancipator, William Lloyd Garrison.
The front page of this issue carries the "Speech of the Virginia Madcap, Gov. Wise!" and the backpage carries "Remarks on the Recent Events at Harper's Ferry, and the Execution of John Brown" which takes up most of the page.
This is complete in four pages with some lite dampstaining, slight irregular left margin, otherwise in good condition. Stray handwriting in upper right margin.
