March 18, 1865
FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, New York, Mar. 18, 1865
* Abraham Lincoln inauguration
* Rare prints - uncommon title
* Shortly before his assassination
Certainly the prime content of this illustrated newspaper is the historic doublepage centerfold captioned: "Second Inauguration of Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States, in Front of the Capitol, Washington, March 4, 1865". There is a related article on an early page: "The Second Inauguration Of President Lincoln (see) with a few details. There are several other war-related prints as well, one of which shows Blacks: "...accompanying the line of Sherman's March through Georgia." but they pale in comparison to this very displayable inauguration print, which measures about 15 by 21 inches.
There is wear at the margins with some tears and some small, discrete archival mends. Some light foxing or dirtiness as well, and the centerfold has 3 quite small binding holes which do not disfigure. A very historic issue.
