* Lord Cornwallis victories
* North & South Carolina
An inside page has over half a column headed: "American News - From the South Carolina Gazette - Lord Cornwallis's Orders" with a dateline of Camden, Aug. 20, 1780, being his congratulations to the army for Col. Tarleton's victory over General Sumpter's American forces at Fishing Creed, South Carolina, which opened the way for a British invasion of North Carolina (see). This is followed by two reports of Cornwallis advancing into North Carolina, plus a note that: "...great numbers of loyalists from North Carolina have flocked in to join the army with his Excellency Earl Cornwallis..." (see).
The bkpg. has a report noting: "...from Lord Cornwallis's headquarters at Waxhaw, every thing was going on to his Lordship's wish & great numbers of the Loyalists daily coming in from North Carolina."
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, rubbing to the front page otherwise in very nice condition.
