Marine nationale - La Royale

The back page has a brief item noting: "...the French fleet under the command of the Comptes de Grasse...sailed from Brest. This fleet consisted of 26 sail of the line, eight frigates, 300 merchant ships and transports, having 15,000 soldiers on board. The destination of this fleet is not positively known..." but history would tell us they were headed to America where they would become instrumental in the surrender of the British at Yorktown, Virginia.
