THE RICHMOND DISPATCH, Virginia, Dec. 7, 1889
* Jefferson Davis death
* From the post Confederate capital
The entire front page and most of page 3 are taken up with reports concerning the death of Jefferson Davis, once the President of the Confederate States of America.
Over half of the first column on page 1 is taken up with a host of heads, including: "PRESIDENT DAVIS" "Dying Hours of the Heroic Confederate Chieftain" "His Death Peaceful" "His Wife's Hand In His" "The Whole South Mourns" and so much more (see). He died on Dec. 6 so this issue was published just one day after his death--a very early report, and great to have in a Richmond newspaper.
Complete in 6 pages, large folio size, light browned throughout, minor foxing at a fold, generally in very nice condition.
