March 15, 1862
RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, March 15, 1862

* Newspaper from the capital of the Confederate states

Not only is this a nice Confederate newspaper, but it is from the capital of the Confederacy so consequently has much page 3 reporting on: "The Confederate Congress".

The front page is entirely taken up with ads, several with a military theme. Page 2 has a great editorial, as this editor was rabidly anti-Yankee and his comments were often colorful. Portions include: "The time has come for every man to put his shoulder to the wheel...for people to unite with one heart & will in the great work in hand. We must not forget the threat of Lincoln's message that Virginia should be made to feel the calamities of the war...nor should any inhabitant of Richmond lose sight of the fact that this city is the special object of Northern hatred...It has always been the cherished object of the enemy to subdue Virginia..." and much more (see for portions).

Also on page 2 is: "The Enemy Advancing On Knoxville", "The Capture of New Bern", "The Medical Commencement", and page 3 has much from: "The Confederate Congress", as well as "City Intelligence", "Telegraphic News--Important from North Carolina--Newbern attacked & Captured by the Burnside Fleet..." with more. Also: "Jacksonville, Florida, Taken by the Federals...".

The back page is taken up with ads & legal notices, some relating to the war. Complete as a four page newspaper, never bound nor trimmed, minimal edge wear, generally very nice.
