SALEM REGISTER, Massachusetts, June 2, 1842 Page 2 has an article: "The Mormons In Salem" which includes: "Mormonism is advancing with a perfect rush in this city...Several of the Elders have made a descent upon us...crowds flock to listen to the strange doctrines of the 'Latter Day Saints'...new converts they make...number...about eighty...The Elders are very zealous & industrious in the propagation of their tenets...and go on a pilgrimage to the Holy City of Nauvoo."
