THE BETHLEHEM GLOBE-TIMES, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Oct. 1, 1927 This issue reports one of the more notable events in baseball history: Babe Ruth's record-breaking 60th home run, a record which would stand until Roger Maris broke it in 1961.
The sports page has a nice photo of Babe Ruth swinging, which is headed: "New Record for Ruth". In the various game reports is a paragraph which notes: "The Yankees tuned in on victory number 109 on the Senators 4 to 3 with Babe Babe's [sic: should be Ruth's] home run wallop with Koenig on base, breaking a two all tie and shattered Ruth's own record of 59 home runs in a season." (see). Another column has a list of "Major League Leaders" which includes: Homers--Ruth, Yankees, 60; Gehrig, Yankees, 46" (see).
Complete in 20 pages, light browning with some minor margin tears, otherwise good.
