* Receipt for drawback of duties
A receipt received by the "Collector's Office, Baltimore" denoting a payment "...for Drawbacks of Duties on Merchandise exported..." The receipt is headed: "Collector's Office, Baltimore, 18 August, 1798" and states that a payment was "Received of Robert Purviance, Collector of Baltimore...". There is a signature at the bottom, presumably by the individual who made the payment.
Receipt measures 5 3/4 by 7 3/4 inches. Some light damp staining, in nice condition. A nice display item with a 1798 date.
