FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED WEEKLY, New York, Jan. 9, 1892
* Terrific color issue for display
This issue remains one of my favorite of the illustrated periodicals of the 19th century. See the photos for why.
The entire front page is taken up not only with a great Western-themed print, showing cowboys on the Western Plains, but it is in color as well (see photos). The very spirited illustration is captioned: "The Race on the Plains" making this a great issue for display. Only rarely did Leslie's do front pages in color.
Although there are some nice prints within this issue, including a large one of Walt Whitman, they pale in comparison to the front page.
Complete in 20 pages and in great condition. Measures 11 by 16 inches.
