September 01, 1781
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, September 1, 1781  Half of the front page is taken up with: "American News" with some nice Revolutionary War reports, including: "...The French & Rebel army now at the White Plains amount to about 7000 men..." and a report from New York includes: "...the fire & attack was from the rebels hot and well kept up, but when coolly charged they gave way & were put in confusion...".
There is also a letter from Williamsburgh beginning: "There happened in a skirmish the 26th instant...in a heavy ploughed field, received the rebels & charged them foot and horse, killed a vast number..." and also: "Lord Cornwallis has given...his warmest thanks for their good conduct...in defeating so superior a force of their choice troops. I think choice should be left out, for I don't know any--they are all despicable alike...." with more (see).
Another page has a letter from New York which notes in part: "...the New  England Yankies seem to be very forward, and turn out in great numbers in hopes of getting possession of this place...".
Another page has over a full column with: "American News" containing an account of General Nath. Greene's operations in the Carolinas, which is an excellent account of his work there (see photos), signed by him in type: Nath. Greene.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, very nice condition.
