January 02, 1949
THE NEW YORK TIMES, from New York, dated January 2, 1949

* Malcolm Campbell death
* British speed record holder

This 80+ page newspaper has one column headlines on page 60 that include:

* SIR M. CAMPBELL, SPEED RACER, DIES
* First to Travel More Than 300 Miles an Hour on Land Set Mark in Utah in 1935
* Held Record For Boats

and more with one column photo of Campbell. Lengthy text.

Other news of the day throughout. Some dirtiness with little margin wear and some clippings cut out on a few unrelated inside pages, otherwise good.

wikipedia notes: Sir Malcolm Campbell (11 March 1885 – 31 December 1948) was an English racing motorist and motoring journalist. He gained the world speed record on land and on water at various times during the 1920s and 1930s using vehicles called Blue Bird. His son, Donald Campbell, carried on the family tradition by holding both land speed and water speed records.
