October 25, 1707
THE POST-BOY, London, October 25, 1707
* 1st Parliament of Great Britain
* Uncommon title... Early 18th century original
Beginning on the front page is a report about the first meeting of the First Parliament of Great Britain, which included representatives from both England and Scotland. The report begins: "On Thursday last, the FIRST PARLIAMENT of GREAT BRITAIN met the first time at Westminster, and the Queen being come to the House of Peers, with the usual Solemnities..." and more, concluding on the reverse.
Although this "union" would be brief, this is still a very significant event in the annals of British history.
Great to have part of the report on the front page. A single sheet, in good condition.
