Bodie is just east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Mono County, about 75 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe. The elevation is 8400 feet. The U.S. Department of the Interior recognizes Bodie as a National Historic Landmark, and it is preserved today as a State Park and a popular "ghost town" tourist attraction.
