THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, September 12, 1758
* Action at Ticonderoga
* French & Indian War
One of the inside pages has a report headed:
* "North America--New York, July 14" with a report from Albany noting that 3 deserters from the French came over to "...our people at the Lake & report that in the engagement on the 8th a French general, three colonels & several private men were killed in the entrenchments...that Mons. Montcalm was so certain of being defeated, had our troops been led to the charge a 2nd time, that he ordered a number of battoes to be kept in readiness to take in the garrison of Ticonderoga as they intended to abandon the fort & entrenchments as soon as our people brought up their battering cannon..." with a bit more (see photos).
Complete in 8 pages, very nice condition., measures about 8 1/2 by 11 inches.
