BOSTON COMMERCIAL GAZETTE, May 22, 1820 Pg. 2 has: "AN ACT to limit the term of office for certain officers therein named, and for other purposes", signed in type: James Monroe. Under "Missouri" is a report mentioning an election "... to form a state Constitution...". Typical ads, including an illustrate ship ad, are present.  Lite foxing. 

1822 Unicorn Killed in Africa?...

SALEM GAZETTE, Salem, Mass., June 21, 1822 A detailed report under "The Unicorn" describes the head of a beast killed in Africa and then brought to a museum in London. Includes an engraving of the beasts head which resembles a rhinoceros, although some thought it to be the "Unicorn of Holy Writ". First leaf has a small piece missing in the outer margin, occasional foxing.

1868 Wisconsin Badgers...

WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL from Madison, WI and dated December 9, 1868. This 4 page newspaper is in good condition due to the use of cotton and rag paper during this time in history. This issue has news of the day & many interesting advertisements which gives a good idea how life was back then. A nice issue from early Wisconsin.

1868 Baseball Played at Central Park in NYC...

THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 23, 1868 On pg. 3 under "Base Ball" are the two box scores of games played in Central Park, each with a very brief, one sentence summary. The first game was played between the Dexter and Henrietta clubs, and the second between the Dexter and Resolute clubs. Traces of foxing.

NEW-YORK TRIBUNE, May 17, 1866 "Veto Of the Colorado Bill" on pg. 7 includes Pres. Johnson's reasons for denying statehood to Colorado. Signed in type: Andrew Johnson. Good.

Here is a great doublepage centerfold of Harper's Weekly newspaper dated July 12, 1884. This print is captioned: "The Democratic Convention at Chicago--Some Characteristic Features of the City" including several scenes. A beautiful item for display, measuring 16 by 22 inches. In great condition. This is not the complete issue, but rather 8 pages which includes the centerfold.

The Oneida Community...

THE CIRCULAR, 1872 A small size newspaper from the famous Oneida Community in New York, an early "commune" in experimental living. Various religiously-themed content but a bit of reporting of news of the day as well. An interesting title from this interesting community in in upstate New York. Very nice condition.

Curious little paper...

THE O.C. DAILY, 1867 A great curiosity for its tiny size if nothing else--it is less than 4 by 5 inches--being one of the smallest I have ever sold.

Complete in four pages per issue, some light foxing, very nice condition.

THE PERFECTIONIST, Putney, Vermont, 1843  This is the earliest Oneida Community newspaper we have from just 2 years after its founding. This small folio-size newspaper only published twice a month, by J. H. Noyes & J. L. Skinner.
