background: On July 18, 1951, in a grudge‑match third meeting at Forbes Field, 37‑year‑old Jersey Joe Walcott finally got his world heavyweight title by knocking out Ezzard Charles in the 7th round with a perfectly timed left hook to the jaw that sent Charles down for the count, a stunning finish that made Walcott the oldest heavyweight champion in history at that time after having lost their previous two title fights earlier that year and in 1949; the bout was a huge upset—Walcott was a heavy underdog—and is celebrated as one of the classic knockout victories in boxing history.
