* Billie Jean Parker & Floyd Hamilton
* Bonnie and Clyde gang members charged w/ murder
* The tipsters to law enforcement re. whereabouts ?
Page 16 has an article with small headings: "2 Of Barrow Gang Held" "Woman and Man Relative of Bandit Accused of Texas Killings" (see) First report coverage on the arrest of Floyd Hamilton and Bonnie Parker's sister. Bonnie and Clyde where ambushed and killed just two days later. Could these two have been on ones who tipped law enforcement to the whereabouts of the infamous duo or was it just a coincidence. I suspect this is one of the few publications to report this particular event as other titles in our inventory do not.
Complete in 46 pages, light toning and some wear at the margins, mainly along the bottom margins, generally in good condition.
background: On May 21, 1934, Texas authorities formally charged surviving Barrow Gang members Floyd Hamilton and Billie (Billy) White with murder, even though both men were already in custody, as prosecutors finalized cases against the remaining associates of the gang two days before Bonnie and Clyde’s deaths. The charges were rooted in accomplice liability, particularly tied to the January 16, 1934 Eastham Prison Farm escape, during which prison guard Major Crowson was fatally wounded; although Clyde Barrow fired the shot, officials argued that Hamilton’s active participation in the armed breakout made him legally responsible for the killing. Billie White, a lesser-known associate, was similarly charged on May 21 based on his involvement in robberies and flight with the gang during its most violent phase. These indictments reflected a deliberate strategy to ensure that surviving gang members faced severe punishment and to bring legal closure to the Barrow Gang saga, which would reach its violent end with the ambush killing of Bonnie and Clyde near Gibsland, Louisiana, on May 23, 1934.
