background: On November 20, 1933, the Nazi regime formally seized Albert Einstein’s property in Germany, including his home, personal possessions, and his beloved sailing boat, as part of a broader campaign targeting Jewish intellectuals and political opponents. Although the official justification cited anti‑Communist legislation, the action was clearly motivated by antisemitic and political persecution: Einstein, who had publicly criticized the Nazis and renounced his German citizenship, was already living abroad in the United States for safety. The confiscation order, issued by the Prussian authorities and published in the Reichsanzeiger, transferred ownership of his assets to the state, effectively stripping him of his financial and personal holdings in Germany. This seizure symbolized the Nazis’ systematic effort to remove Jewish émigrés from cultural, academic, and economic life, and it cemented Einstein’s permanent exile, as he never returned to live in Germany and his works were publicly denounced.
