AI notes: Gorillas in the Mist (1988) is a biographical drama that chronicles the life and work of Dian Fossey, a passionate American primatologist portrayed by Sigourney Weaver, who travels to Rwanda to study and protect endangered mountain gorillas. Based on Fossey’s 1983 autobiography, the film explores her deepening bond with the gorillas, her groundbreaking scientific research, and her escalating battle against poachers and those exploiting wildlife. As Fossey becomes increasingly radical in her conservation efforts, the film also delves into the personal sacrifices and isolation that come with her mission, ultimately leading to her unsolved murder in 1985. Directed by Michael Apted, the film was critically acclaimed, earning five Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe for Weaver’s powerful performance. It remains a poignant tribute to Fossey’s legacy and brought global awareness to gorilla conservation efforts.
I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time.
The Village Voice was an American counterculture newspaper known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse - a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history. It is quite common to find great political cartoons, satirical cartoons and articles, thought-provoking editorials, and ads and reviews for both concerts and theater productions - both on and off Broadway. Many iconic writers and musicians credit their appearance in The Village Voice for at least a portion of their success.
