Note: The Belsen Trial, which began on September 24, 1945, in Lüneburg, Germany, was a British military tribunal that prosecuted 45 former SS personnel and camp workers for war crimes committed at Bergen-Belsen and Auschwitz. Key figures included Josef Kramer and Irma Grese, charged with the murder and abuse of prisoners.
Sophie LitwiƄska was a Polish Jewish Holocaust survivor who testified at the 1945 Bergen-Belsen Trial. Arrested in 1940 for being Jewish, she endured brutal conditions in Auschwitz and later Bergen-Belsen. Her testimony included a near-death experience in a gas chamber, forced labor, and the recognition of an SS guard who had abused her. Her courageous account provided vital evidence of Nazi atrocities and helped document the horrors of the Holocaust.
