One of the best accounts of the 'Bloody Benders' we have found...

Item # 715471

May 13, 1873

NEW YORK TIMES, May 13, 1873

* Bloody Benders
* Cherry Vale, Kansas
* Corpses discovered

The front page has 1 1/2 columns taken up with an excellent and uncommonly lengthy report of the "Bloody Benders" with the discovery of their victims.
The top of a column is headed: "THE KANSAS MURDERS" "Narrative of the Horrible Crimes of the Bender Family--Discovery of the Bodies of Their Victims". The text begins: "The accidental discovery of a vacated house...has led to a search which has finally resulted in the disclosure of a series of the most horrible crimes on record, it being clearly evidenced that a wholesale system of robbery and murder has been going on within a short distance of that town for some time..." and so much more.
By far the lengthiest account on the Benders we have found to date, and great to have on the front page.
Complete with 8 pages, piece torn away at the upper right corner (see image) on the first 6 pages with a little unrelated text loss, minor margin wear, otherwise nice.

Note: The mentioned problems with condition is no way affects the Bender report
