THE NEW YORK HERALD, February 14, 1861

First column heads on the front page include: "The National Crisis", "Contemplated Attack on Fort Pickens", "The Final Act of the Presidential Election" "Official Counting of the Vote by Both House of Congress" & more.
Included is a report under "House of Representatives" that describes the scene and protocol in counting the electoral votes. There is a chart of the electoral votes from each state and, near the end, the announcement by Vice President Breckinridge that Abraham Lincoln won a majority of the electoral votes, and "...is duly elected President of the United States..." (see).
The front page also a report: "The Southern Confederacy" and "The Congress of Southern Sovereignties at Montgomery, Alabama."
Page 5 has a report about President-elect Lincoln's journey to Washington: "Mr. Lincoln's Journey To Washington" Arrival of the President Elect at Columbus, Ohio--His Reception by the Legislature--Another Speech--Scenes Along the Route &c."
Has reports from Lincoln's stop at Cincinnati, plus his stop at Columbus which includes the text of an address delivered before the Ohio legislature (see).
There are two related reports as well: "The Reception Of Mr. Lincoln At Albany" & "The Approach Of President Lincoln" "Preparations For His Reception In New York--Meeting Of The Joint Common Council Committee."
