AI notes: Les Estats de Hollande was a French-language newspaper published in the Dutch Republic during the 17th and 18th centuries, serving the French-speaking public, including Huguenot refugees and European elites. It reported on international politics, military affairs, and court news, reflecting the Dutch Republic’s openness to press freedom and its role in European diplomacy. The paper was part of a broader network of French-language gazettes published outside France, aimed at informing readers across national borders in an era of limited domestic press freedoms.
