ILLUSTRATED LONDON NEWS, England, Feb. 17, 1849 The most interesting print is a nearly half page view captioned: "Construction Of The Niagara Falls Suspension Bridge--Basket Ferry & Temporary Towers". This was the very first bridge over Niagara Falls, this print showing the early stages of the construction showing the: "...basket ferry and temporary towers". This print is the same shown in a website on its construction. See the web for the interesting back story on this the first rope spanned the falls (was a boy's kite).
