THE TIMES, London, England, Oct. 3, 1888
* Jack the Ripper Whitechapel murders
* Elizabeth Stride murder investigation
* Best title to be had (very rare as such)
This is perhaps the most desired title in which to find reports on the "Jack The Ripper" case which terrorized London at this time, and this report is much lengthier than most.
Page 10 has nearly three columns of reporting headed: "The East-End Murders" and "The Mitre-Square Victim Identified". Most of the reporting involves the cross-examination between the coroner and the witnesses.
The beginning of the report includes: "Yesterday...Mr. Wynne Baxter, coroner...resumed his inquiry...respecting the death of Elizabeth Stride, who was found murdered in Berner Street on Sunday..." Stride was one of the "canonical five" victims of Jack the Ripper, the third, while 9 others are alleged Ripper victims but without sufficient evidence to tie their deaths to him.
The early part of the testimony focuses on the finding of the victim.
Complete in 16 pages, folio size, very nice condition.
