Death of Marvin Gaye in a Los Angeles newspaper... Jerusalem attacked...

Item # 703109

April 02, 1984

LOS ANGELES TIMES, April 2, 1984

* Marvin Gaye's death report
* His father held as killer
* Jerusalem is attacked by terrorists

The middle of the front page has a two column head announcing the death of Marvin Gaye, one of the greats of music who helped shape the sound of Motown in the 1960's: "Father Held in Death of Singer Margin Gaye" with a photo of him, with his parents. Coverage caries over to page 19. Of special collector interest is this report in a Los Angeles newspaper, where he lived and was shot.
Since his death, many institutions have posthumously bestowed Gaye with awards and other honors—including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The front page also has the banner heading: "Terrorist Attacked in Jerusalem", followed by lengthy details.
The complete first section with pages 1-20, very nice condition.
