The prime print in this issue is the full front page Thomas Nast print titled: "The Readjusting Performances". The prime feature of this famous political cartoon is the image of an elephant labeled: "Republican Pachyderm".
Thomas Nast was the creator of the elephant as a symbol of the Republican party, the donkey for the Democratic party, and the modern version of Santa Claus as well. The Republican elephant first appeared in an 1874 issue of Harper's Weekly. This is the first appearance on the front page, making it very displayable.
Other prints include a fullpg: 'Seal Hunting in the Northern Seas"; doublepage centerfold: 'Perils of the Coast--The Life-Saving Service" and more.
Sixteen pages, slight irregular at the blank spine, a very small piece chipped from the right margins not close to any text, and s slight hint of foxing at the central fold. Generally in nice condition.
