THE CONNECTICUT COURANT AND WEEKLY INTELLIGENCER, Hartford, Sept. 2, 1783  The entire front page and taken up with a report from a town meeting concerning the revolt of the officers at the end of the war demanding their pay. The report begins: "The town made choice of a committee to take into consideration the last official circular letter of his Excellency Gen. Washington...pointing out...the charges of the war, and all other expenses incurred for the general defense, shall be defrayed..." with much more. This report carries over to the back page.
Most of page 2 is taken up with a continued: "Address to the Discontented People of America". Page 3 has a report noting; "We are informed that...the honorable the Congress resolved, that Princeton should be the place of their deliberations until the question for fixing their permanent residence should be determined, which will be the beginning of October next."
Also a report mentioning: "This day has been ratified in Congress, a Treaty of Amity and Commerce between the United States and the King of Sweden. This treaty was concluded at Paris the 3d of last April and signed by Dr. Franklin..." with more. Also a report mentioning General Howe and his troops.
Four pages, archivally strengthened at the spine, decorative lettering in the masthead, nice condition.
