THE VILLAGE VOICE, Greenwich Village, New York, July 2, 1970

* Christopher Street Liberation Day
* 1 year anniversary of Stonewall riots
* Sheridan Square to Central Park
* First gay pride marches across America

The front page has first report coverage on the first nation wide ray pride marches with reporting obviously on the New York City march. The article is headed: "A Happy Birthday For Gay Liberation" with a related photo and continues on a inside page. Nice to have this historic coverage in the iconic newspaper from where the Stonewall riots took place. I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time.
It is worth noting that "The Village Voice" was an American news and culture paper, known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. Founded in 1955, the Voice began as a platform for the creative community of New York City.
Complete with 72, tabloid-size, one crease across the center, minor margin wear, generally in good condition.

Provenance note: This issue comes from The Village Voice's own archives, part of their in-house collection used to create their digital archive. Rare as such.

Alert: Many issues of The Village Voice contain articles and/or photos which some consider offensive, and are certainly inappropriate for children. Please purchase with discretion.
