The top of the front page has a one column heading: "MATTERN IS DOWN EN ROUTE TO CHITA; SOVIET SENDS AID" with subheads. (see) Coverage continues inside with related photo and map. First report coverage on the disappearance of Jimmie Mattern, the American flyer who was attempting to complete the first solo airplane flight around the world. Mattern, missing for more than three weeks, was able to send a telegram from the Siberian city of Bocharova with the words "Safe at Anadyr, Chukotka, Siberia. Jimmie Mattern."
Complete with all 42 pages, rag edition in nice condition.
