THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, July 14, 1785 The back page has a report concerning the early use of a parachute, bits noting: "...persons were assembled...late Blanchard's Aerobatic Academy near Vauxhall, to be spectators of an experiment made by a Italian with a parachute, who was to have let himself down from a prodigious altitude and to manifest his composure by playing on a violin during his descent...". But read the article for the comical result.
The bottom of the front page has a report headed: "America" from Charleston, mostly contained on page 2 concerning: "...an illicit commerce has of late been carried on between the subjects of the neighboring States of America and the inhabitants of this province, injurious to the trade of Great Britain...". Then a letter to a person in New York.
Page 2 also has reports from Philadelphia and Alexandria, Virginia, concerning restricting trade with Europe to promote American manufacturing and inland navigation of the Potomac River.
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, 9 by 12 inches, full red tax stamp on page 2, very nice condition.
