THE HERALD; A GAZETTE FOR THE COUNTRY, New York, Feb. 1, 1797 A very nice newspaper from the closing weeks of George Washington's administration. John Adams would be inaugurated on March 4.
The back page has over a full column taken up with a detailed report concerning the sale of: "Lands of the United States" which are: "...in the territory northwest of the river Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky river...".
Four pages, very nice condition.
