NEW YORK JOURNAL AMERICAN--EXTRA, September 1, 1939 (1st section)
* World War II begins -- initial start
* Adolph Hitler defies the World
This front page is one of the better we have offered on the beginning of World War II in Europe: Germany's invasion of Poland.
Above the masthead in large letters is: "E X T R A" and the two-line banner head: "GERMAN ARMY ATTACKS POLAND, PARIS REPORTS" with a very large photo of Adolph Hitler, and a subhead: "Danzig Anschluss Decreed by Nazis" plus various reports, the first: "German armed forces have launched a concerted attack on Poland, it was reported in Paris today." followed by various updates as received.
Coverage and a wealth of photos continue to pages 2 and 3.
This is the first section only so any related content in the 2nd section will be lacking.
Twelve pages, a few minor margin tears, quite nice condition.
