THE DAY, New London, Connecticut, Jan. 7, 1920

* Babe Ruth sold to the Yankees (historic)
* New York Yankees (1st report)
* MLB baseball - Boston Red Sox

When it comes to baseball memorabilia on the immortal Babe Ruth, of which there is always much interest, this is one of the best. The sports page reports the sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees.
The sale of Babe Ruth from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees is considered as one of the most significant deals in sports history. In hindsight, a wonderful deal for the Yankees; a tragic mistake for Boston. There are many websites devoted to the deal, one of the better accounts being "The Deal That Changed the Game".
A one column head: "RUTH MAY BREAK HOME RUN RECORD" with the story more concerning him signing a deal to play for the Yankees. It begins: "Babe Ruth is now a full fledged Yankee. Stories from California that Ruth would balk at the deal which brought him to New York because of his cigar business in Boston were dissipated last night when Col. Rupert, president of the Yankees, announced that he had received a telegram from Mille Huggins, manager of the team, who is in Los Angeles, saying that Ruth had signed an agreement to play in New York..." with more on this.
The article then continues concerning Babe Ruth's plan to break his own 29-home run record before the 1920 season is half over.
