* Joe DiMaggio - New York Yankees
* Breaks all-time MLB hitting streak record
The sports section (pg. 15) has a two-column heading: "Di Maggio Due for Bonus". The text begins: "Joe Di Maggio today heaved a big sigh of relief. He has hit in 45 consecutive games. The all-time record was his...." (see photos for more). The next page includes a photo of DiMaggio with Ted Williams. First report coverage on Joe DiMaggio breaking Willie Keeler's MLB game hitting streak record. DiMaggio would continue his hitting streak to 56 games, ending on July 17, a record which has yet to be broken and is considered one of the most difficult records to break. Great to have in this New York City publication.
Complete with all 24 pages, light toning at the margins, small library stamp within the masthead, small binding holes along the spine, archival mend along the right margin of the front page, generally nice.
