The most sought after prints within this issue are Winslow Homer's full-page: "Spring Blossoms" and the front-page: "A Spring Scene Near Richmond, Va.", which shows a black man tending his garden. This issue also has the uncommon Dicken's Supplement (see below).
Other wood-cut illustrations include: the full-page: "Population of an Indian Village Moving", "William Lloyd Garrison" (publisher of The Liberator), "Lucretia Mott", the early feminist, "The Promising Colt", "An Old Scholar", with caption, showing an elderly black woman reading a book.
THE DICKENS SUPPLEMENT was a special edition given "gratuitously" to subscribers of Harper's Weekly, with all 4 pages taken up with chapters 6 thru 9 of the Dickens classic: "The Mystery of Edwin Drood".
Complete in 20 pages (the 16-page standard issue, plus the additional 4-page supplement), loose front page, a few small margin tears, a bit brittle, but well inked. In overall good condition.
Note: The price without the Supplement for this date is higher than the price shown due to it being slightly fragile. However, any/all of the pages would be great for framing. The two key prints are particularly nice.
