April 13, 1865

BOSTON MORNING JOURNAL, April 13, 1865  The back page has several reports on the closing events of the Civil War. The top of the page has: "From Richmond" "The News of the Surrender of Lee's Army" which begins: "A dispatch from Gen. Grant to Weitzel last night announcing the surrender of Lee and his army, made the Union army wild with delight...The soldiers sang, danced, shook hands, laughed, cried and cheered...The glorious news fell like a thunderbolt upon the rebels..." with much h more.
Also on the back page: "Capture of Selma, Ala." "Surrender of Lynchburg, Va." "Capture of Forrest and Roddy and Their Entire Commands" "Reported Capture of Montgomery" and more as well.
Four pages, large folio size, nice condition. The folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
