The front page has a report noting: "By letters from Charles Town [Charleston], South Carolina, we learn...Col. Montgomery...was surrounded in the middle of the Cherokee country by a vast body of Indians. The British troops fought gloriously & cleared the field with the loss of 140 men killed & wounded. The loss of the enemy must have been very considerable...Colonel Montgomery burnt one of the most considerable towns in the middle of the Cherokees' country...when he received an express from General Amherst ordering him to repair forthwith to him with all the Regulars...Thus the provinces of Carolina & Georgia are open to the enemy which has created the greatest consternation at Charles Town."
An unrelated article on pages 2 & 3 is headed: "Canine Madness Unknown in New-England" which takes over a full column.
