President Jackson's state-of-the-union address...
Item # 693181
December 06, 1834
NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Dec. 6, 1834
* President Andrew Jackson
* State of the Union Address
The prime content would be the annual state-of-the-union address, contained in full on seven pages & signed in type by the President: Andrew Jackson.
An extremely lengthy address, it touches upon a wide variety of topics & events in the process of reviewing the year 1834, and plans for the future. This address takes close to half of this issue.
The back page has a letter signed by: Andrew Jackson, concerning the presentation of what would appear to be a copperplate engraving of the Declaration of Independence (perhaps the original Stone copperplate done in 1823?) by George Washington Lafayette.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, nice condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
