MERCURIUS BRITANNICUS Giving A Perfect Accept of the Designs of the Royal Party Through the Kingdome, London, July 18, 1648
'Mercurius Britannicus' was a popular title in the 17th century, as no fewer than five separate publications used this name. The most common (if that term can be applied to newsbooks) is Crane & Kaye title #472, as many issues are held by several American institutions. It published from 1643-1646.
This is Crane & Kay title #474 which published only 13 issues dating from May 16 thru Aug. 16, 1648. This is issue number 10.
Our records show that we have offered six issues of Britannicus in our 47 years, all being the more "common" Crane & Kaye #472.
This issue was printed during the latter period of the English Civil War (1642-1651) with some war-related reports.
Complete in 8 pages, 5 1/2 by 7 inches, ample margins, great condition.
