THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, November, 1783 Included is a portion of text headed: "The Definitive Treaty between Great Britain & the United States of America, signed at Paris, the 3rd day of Sept. 1783" the text being just the beginning & ending of the Treaty, not the complete text. It ends with Article X and includes the signatures of John Adams, B. Franklin, and John Jay.Further on is: "American Intelligence" which includes a report concerning finances, signed in type: Robert Morris. Also reports from Philadelphia, Charlestown, and New York.
One of the two foldout plates called for is present.
Complete in 86 pages with full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, nearly close-trimmed at the title page and a few interior pages but no loss, nice condition.
A very nice magazine from the "mother country" at the end of the Revolutionary War with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
