Apple Computer Inc. goes public in 1980...

Item # 691393

December 12, 1980

THE NEW YORK TIMES, Dec. 12, 1980

* Apple Computer Inc. goes public (day of)
* New York Stock Market Exchange (NYSE)

Section D, page 6 has a two column heading: "A State Bars Apple Stock" (see) Apple Inc. would go public on this day in the New York Stock Market.  I suspect this to be an extremely rare item because their was really no reason to save it at the time. Great to have in the World famous NYC publication.
Complete with all section (80+ pages), small hole along the central fold on the first 4 pages, darken stain within the masthead from removing a address label, otherwise very nice.

wikipedia notes: On December 12, 1980, Apple (ticker symbol "AAPL") went public selling 4.6 million shares at $22 per share ($.10 per share when adjusting for stock splits as of November 30, 2020), generating over $100 million, which was more capital than any IPO since Ford Motor Company in 1956. Several venture capitalists cashed out, reaping billions in long-term capital gains. By the end of the day, the stock rose to $29 per share and 300 millionaires were created, including the two Steves. Around this time Wozniak offered $10 million of his own stock to early Apple employees, something Jobs refused to do. Apple's market cap was $1.778 billion at the end of its first day of trading.
