Note: In May 1945, the United States intensified its strategic bombing campaign against Tokyo using B-29 Superfortress bombers, following the devastating Operation Meetinghouse in March. These raids aimed to cripple Japan's war production and morale through extensive firebombing of urban areas.
This night raid targeted downtown Tokyo and the waterfront. B-29s dropped incendiary bombs from altitudes around 9,100 feet, leading to massive fires that engulfed large sections of the city.
