A terrific issue on the suffrage movement, as an inside page is entirely taken up with a print captioned: "Washington, D.C. -- The Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives Receiving a Deputation of Female Suffragists, January 11th - A Lady Delegate Reading Her Argument in Favor of Woman's Voting, on the Basis of the Fourteenth & Fifteenth Constitutional Amendments."
There is a nearly full column article: "The Feminine Invasion of the Capitol" which reports on the meeting, and notes in part that: "...Among the warriors present were Miss Victoria C. Woodhull, Mrs. Stanton, Mrs. Beecher Hooker...Miss Tennie C. Claflin, Miss Kate Stanton...Shortly after ten o'clock Miss Victoria C. Woodhull, of New York, opened the ball...Miss Woodhull, who is rather a prepossessing woman, laid aside her Alpine hat, pulled out a paper previously prepared for the occasion, and commenced to read a well-considered address..." with much more. And a bit further on: "...During the progress of Miss Woodhull's address, Miss Susan B. Anthony, in a; black velvet gown, sat behind her, smiling graciously..." and more.
Note in the print that Victoria Woodhull is speaking, her Alpine hat on the table and her paper in hand, and Susan. B. Anthony can be seen behind her. Among the other women in the print are Tennie Claflin, Mrs. Stanton, and the others mentioned.
Sixteen pages, very nice, clean condition.
