Death of the President...

Item # 688754

April 09, 1841

CITIZEN SOLDIER, Windsor, Vermont, April 9, 1841

* President William Henry Harrison death

This short-lived newspaper was: "Devoted to the Interests of the Militia, to Military Science & National Defense in General." as noted in the masthead.
Page 7 has a black-bordered report headed: "General Harrison Is No More" which begins: "A report reached us on Wednesday morning that the recent illness (bilious pleurisy) of Gen. Harrison terminated in his death on Saturday night last, at 12 o'clock..." with more. He only served one month as President of the United States.
Nice to have this report of a military leader then President in this military-themed newspaper.
Eight pages, 10 by 13 1/2 inches, rejoined at the spine, repairs to two lower corners, some archival & non-archival mends inside, scattered foxing.
