The funeral of Henry Clay, in a Washington newspaper...

Item # 688250

July 02, 1852

DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., July 2, 1852

* Henry Clay funeral
* Kentucky statesman
* From the nation's capital

All four pages have wide, black mourning rules for the death of Henry Clay.
Page 3 begins with: "The Funeral" with nearly two columns taken up with reports concerning it and sentiments regarding Henry Clay.
A member of the Senate at the time, he passed away at the National Hotel in Washington, D.C., and was the first person to lie in state at the Rotunda of the Capitol.
Great to have this report in this famous title from the nation's capital.
Four pages, some small tears at margins with discrete archival mends, archival repair at the blank spine.
