Second battle of Bull Run... Stonewall Jackson at Cedar Mountain...

Item # 688155

September 03, 1862

DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, Sept. 3, 1862

* 2nd Second Battle of Bull Run
* General Stonewall Jackson
* From the capital of the Confederacy
* Robert E. Lee & Jefferson Davis

The front page has a great deal on the Civil War--from the Confederate perspective--including items headed: "From the Army of Northern Virginia" which includes some nice coverage of the battle of Cedar Mountain with several mentions of Stonewall Jackson. This is followed by some nice coverage of the second battle of Bull Run altogether taking nearly 2 1/2 columns.
Also on the front page are: "From Washington" "Latest News From the North" "Fredericksburg Evacuated by the Enemy" "Sale of Negroes" and more.
The back page has an editorial report on the war, beginning: "In another part of this day's paper the reader will find such accounts of the late battles at Manassas from Confederate sources as we deem truthful...". Plus there is much reporting from: "The Confederate Congress" including a letter signed in type: Jefferson Davis, and two dispatches to President Davis each signed in type: R. E. Lee.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with full banner masthead, some foxing to the top quadrant and blank margin loss near the top of the spine. Otherwise very nice.
